Values reflect renewable energy supported through active participation. REC retirements are processed periodically.

What is Green My Power?
Green My Power is a monthly subscription that supports renewable energy. When you join, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are purchased and retired on your behalf, permanently attributing the environmental value of that power to you.
What is a renewable energy certificate (REC)?
A REC represents the environmental benefits of 1,000 units of clean energy - called kilowatt-hours (kWh) - generated and delivered to the grid. Every time a wind or solar farm generates electricity, a certificate is created and serves as proof that clean power entered the grid. PowerMarket sources those certificates, ties them to your electricity use, and retires them permanently on your behalf.

RECs offer an accessible, transparent, and trackable way to increase demand and support for clean energy, and they provide the credibility needed to back your sustainability commitments.
Will this change my electricity service or my utility bill?
No. Enrollment is 100% digital, and nothing else about your electricity service changes. Your electricity provider, your service, and your utility bill stay exactly the same. Green My Power is a separate monthly charge on the payment method you provide - not your utility bill.
Who can participate?
Homeowners, renters, businesses, and institutions can all subscribe. You don't need to own your home, and you don't need to install or change anything. Green My Power is currently available to Con Edison and NYSEG customers in Westchester County.
How much does it cost, and can I cancel?
Plans start at $4/month for an apartment, $6/month for an average home, and $18/month for a large home. Businesses and institutions get a custom plan. The price per REC is the same across all plans. The program is month-to-month - no fees, no penalties, cancel anytime.
What am I actually paying for?
You're paying for Renewable Energy Certificates to be purchased and retired on your behalf in a recognized public registry. Each REC has a unique serial number and is certified under the Green-e Energy standard, administered by the independent Center for Resource Solutions. Within your personal dashboard, you'll see the serial numbers, source project, and vintage.
What's the impact of my purchase?
Renewable energy projects earn revenue from two things: the electricity itself and the clean energy attribute attached to it. Your subscription helps pay for that clean energy attribute, which helps support and incentivize renewable energy production.
Does this mean my home runs on renewable energy?
Not physically. Your electricity still comes from the regional grid, which is the same mix for everyone connected to it. What changes is that renewable energy is generated, certified, and permanently credited to you in a public registry - in the amount your plan covers.
Who runs the program?
Green My Power is a partnership between Sustainable Westchester and PowerMarket. Sustainable Westchester is the nonprofit that brings together 44 Westchester municipalities on clean energy. PowerMarket runs the platform - enrollment, billing, REC procurement, and reporting.
Can businesses, schools, and other organizations participate?
Yes. Businesses, nonprofits, schools, hospitals, and other institutions enroll through the Business and Other plan. REC volume is set with PowerMarket - either tracked to your actual electricity use, or set at a custom amount you choose. The program supports sustainability reporting under the GHG Protocol, CDP, RE100, and the EPA Green Power Partnership. Contact us to set up an account.
What's the role of municipalities?
Municipalities can subscribe directly to cover their own buildings and operations. They can also partner with the program to support local outreach, and each participating community appears on a county-wide map and leaderboard. Municipalities don't manage billing or RECs and take on no financial or legal responsibility for the program.
Can I do this if I have rooftop solar or community solar?
Yes to both. Rooftop solar reduces how much you pull from the grid, but most homes still pull some - RECs cover the rest. Community solar reduces your utility bill through credits, and those credits often offset most or all of the cost of your REC subscription.
Am I really having an impact?
Yes. When you subscribe, Renewable Energy Certificates are sourced from U.S. wind and solar farms and permanently retired on your behalf in a national registry. That record can't be claimed by anyone else - it's the same documentation EPA's Green Power Partnership and the GHG Protocol's market-based Scope 2 method accept for renewable energy claims, and it's a credible way to back a renewable energy claim without installing anything.

You're not changing the electrons coming into your home. What you are doing is supporting real renewable energy generation and creating a verified paper trail that you did. That matters both as a personal record and as a market signal. Sustained demand helps new projects get built and shows utilities and policymakers where Westchester stands.
